AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering) is a licensing course which is not considered as a degree course or diploma course. Everybody is confused that since this course duration is three years it will comes under degree or diploma. But its wrong, its a licensing course comes under the aviation authority of India. The course is approved by DGCA. Since the name shows aircraft maintenance engineering it means that deals with the maintenance of aircraft, and its engineering works. All the people who have mechanical knowledge and degree cant perform these works in aviation industry. Licensed people and the people who are completed the AME COURSE can only do this maintenance activity for the airworthiness of the aircraft.
This is a major problem for the students, get nothing after three years of studying AME course. I mean the education qualification, if you are joining for the AME course After plus two or predegree.
If this AME COURSE is considered to be a degree or diploma for the students it will be useful for the students for further studies and fulfillment of their education qualification.
Now a days Aviation companies are asking for experienced people with minimum graduation for a good position in their organization for the maintenance of aircraft, so what you will do if you are not having any graduation after doing three years of this AME COURSE? So better think before joining for AME COURSE, my advice is... do a valid correspondant degree course with this AME COURSE.
In the future we can hope that, this AME COURSE will be considered as a degree or diploma in our country.

The matter is so serious, but what the students to do.The government should decide or the HOD from where the decision making may think once to get the exact solution of the issue, that every year thousands of young ages falls into the courses with out knowing the seriousness.I am not going to write more but I may request to the concerned that the course may please be considered as degree to help the poor students.
yes, i agree with this...The thing is, AME fresher in meant for the aviation industry only, he cannot work or get further education with this AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering) course completion.

BBA, BA, BCA like other graduations also can do if you wish to take it as a degree, if you want related course, you can opt for the courses Ame tech mentioned above...
well doing BBA,BA,BCA its not related to the aviaiton field, what is the point of doing such a course ? already we are suffering taking up AME without educating ourselves with full details :(

Yes, but i said if you need a graduation other than AME, that's it. And also if you have graduation it will add as your educational qualification. if that degree related to the aviation field well and good. In some aviation organization they are asking for only graduation (any). so you can take any degree, nothing harm in gaining knowledge right?
The AME licence course should be considered as equivalent to Degree because the course period is of 3 years for both AME & Degree. The DGCA should initiate steps for this.

@AMARNATH NO, you did a professional course which is having some value in the aviation industry. Until unless you have some experience and AME licenses it will be hard to get on the profession. Still you need to have some hope, and be optimistic... All the best wishes!

@Rohan14 You cant do MBA without a degree, go for some ignou degree course in correspondance and do MBA after that. AME is not a degree now, but in future this may change. One friend told me about AME to degree with a 6 months course, and with some tests....i am not sure about that!

we had write to P.M. ,DGCA, HRD, about this that AME SHOULD BE DEGREE because its a 3 yrs course first with 70% passing marks much higher than any graduate exam, & also it covered most of degree subject as well at least we should free to do some MBA kind of thing ..
all the ame student who is doing the course in dgca institute should be aware of this & take some strict action against this to make future,,

it is totally acceptable the greiviences of the ame students. what the hell the govt is doing. allowing all the institutes to enroll every year for the course ame and not assuring or atleast show the way or guide the out going students how to get a job in aviation industries. after expending very huge money for this 3 yr course and to get the basic aircraft maintanence engineers licence from dgca and with no use or hope. My son has completed the course and with the basic licence and many others are roaming here and there without proper jobs. for some period the ame course should be stoped abrubtly and the govt should advise the aviation industry to recruit the ame students for their requirements immediately. people belong to aviation industry should do favour by appointing all the eligible candidates soon. aaaaall the best my sons pray with god. The reality is exactly opposite, i.e. One who completes A.M.E. is a well qualified Unemployed. Doing A.M.E. is wastage of money & time. Instead doing B.E. is much more better.

I have completed AME from Chennai in 1999 and worked as an On job trainee in Air India - Mumbai for a year. I couldn't get any Job in the industry for a year and forced to change my line and I joined in a Bangalore based BPO, where I worked for 4 years. after that I came to abroad (UAE) for searching a job - I tired my luck in avaiation industry as well. But without proper experience they were not ready to take me. I joined in a Govt Hospital with the help of my BPO expreience and past 6 years I am working here. My problem is since I don't have a Bachelors degree, I am stuck to the same position. Now I have enrolled in IGNOU for Bcom.
I always feel sad that the struggle and money which I spent for 3 years for AME course never helped me. My parents still want me to be in avaiation industry.

The Worst course any one can Have. Never Join AME or any Related courses. Please Do not spoil your career by paying money to any Institute. Your Career is important. people will Cheat you, be cautious. AME is not a degree or Diploma. Even if you get a job , You ll get a job of a Technician or Cleaner. Be Aware. There are somany AMEs with out any job. Yes they get job of a teacher in the same institutes with a salary of a LD Clerk. Kindly Consult some Good people. If you have already joined, dont waste time now, leave the course and join some new ITI, DIPLOMA or Engineering

I have heard that SINGHANIA University is not a recognized university.nd that for writing each module in AME Paper we have to pay 6000rs to convert this Paper into EASA standard.thinking of leaving this field unless DGCA makes this course atleast degree...
